Desbarres is based in Uxbridge, Ontario and co-founded by Ariane and Erik Hansen. They relaunched their bars in early 2024 with bright new packaging and a change in size from 38g to a 60g bar. All their cacao beans are direct trade and single origin, all bars are made bean to bar and for the unflavoured bars they contain only 2 ingredients - cocoa nibs and organic cane sugar. Bars with additions are made with locally sourced ingredients. 


Raspberry Cordial 72%
For Kindred Spirits! Single origin Dominican Republic cacao infused with raspberry and fresh lemon peel for the taste of summer all year round. A multi award winning bar from the Academy of Chocolate and the International Chocolate Awards - Americas.
Black Pepper Cardamom 72%
Inspired by chai spices, the deep earthy flavour of the Tanzanian cocoa bean is spiced with black pepper and cardamom to create a multi award winning bar. 
Midnight Mocha 72%
Created with the fruity beans of the Dominican Republic and blended with the bold, rich flavour of fresh roasted, full city roast, coarsely ground coffee. A delicious crunch of coffee coupled with the smooth texture of the chocolate that's perfect!
Orange Spice 72%
A holiday essential! This 72% Tanzanian chocolate gets a warm infusion of the  orange essence and freshly ground nutmeg that will get you through the winter.
Foggy River Mint 72%
A blend of Tanzania & Madagascar cacao beans with locally sourced mint from Foggy Mint Farm in Ontario. A bright bar with the field fresh taste of Ontario mint.
Tupi, Phillipines 72%
The Tupi 72% Dark Chocolate bar uses cacao from Kablon Farms in South Cotabato in the Philippines. This bean delivers a nutty flavour not present in the other Desbarres origins. With a base note of hazelnut and top note of tropical fruit, this creamy bar almost delivers a PB&J experience.
Kilombero, Tanzania 72% 
This is one of those bars that needs to be a basic in your bean to bar chocolate cupboard! We love Tanzanian cocoa beans and what Desbarres does with them. Creamy, caramel flavour notes and a smooth slow melt that releases a light citrus taste. Multi award winning this bar is enjoyed on its own, with coffee and our favourite pairing, red wine. Multi award winning bar since 2021.
Johnson Mountain,  Jamaica 72%
This bean comes from the legendary Bachelors Hall Estate, St Thomas, Jamaica, owned and farmed by Desmond Jadusingh. The beans are fermented on site, and unmatched for quality. Subtle notes of tropical fruit blend seamlessly with deep dark chocolate to produce a smooth and mellow chocolate experience. An award winning bar since 2020!
Maya Mountain, Belize 72%
Maya Mountain Cacao was the first exporter of fine quality beans from Belize, to produce high-quality, centrally-fermented, transparently sourced cacao.  A bright sweet chocolate with notes of tropical fruit and honey. This 72% bar highlights the special flavours in the Maya Mountain cacao, a bright chocolate with light tropical fruit and a honey sweetness. In 2024 this bar was awarded GOLD at the International Competition - Americas!
Kilombero, Tanzania 88%
Similar to the 72% but bolder! Notes of rich cocoa and hints of coffee.
Ambanja, Madagascar 85%
Beans from the same origin but a bar with less sugar and more intense fruity notes! At 88% this deep chocolate flavour of this cacao is a little bit more powerful and is coupled with a hint of honey and fruit. 


All bars are 60g, dairy, soy and gluten free. May contain peanut, tree nut, soy, sesame and dairy products.
